Hello my foreign friends. It is I, Reverend Huy Dang, and this is my first update in almost a week, and it will be last my one before I go to Ottawa.
Since my last update, I was studying for finals, and thinking that the weather was controlled by a child that likes to screw with the minds of innocent people such as myself, as the weather forecast kept changing for three important cities: Ottawa, Saskatoon and Calgary. Why are they important? Well, I will be using their airports for my travel. And now, I'm starting to think that it's Tho who's controlling the weather, because he's evil. Well, I wish it were true, because I'd have a reason to "kill" him.
On Monday, I went to school for unknown reasons. On the way back, while checking my postal office box, I saw that people were still mailing their tax returns. Man that stinks. However, Monday was also my mom's birthday. But during my outing, I saw some interesting things, and took pictures. Among them were a new way to use networking cables, crews actually working, a useless electronic sign and a failure of a parking job. And for weeks, I've been looking for a copy of the movie Polytechnique, after searching BLOCKBUSTER stores in Saskatoon to no avail. Eventually, I checked the Saskatoon Public Library, and the Saskatchewan Information & Library Services Consortium and placed a request for the movie. After getting angry for a few days because the library wouldn't set it aside, despite it being available, I eventually headed to the library to pick it up. By the time I arrived, it was not available. So, on Monday, I searched the reserve section at the Murray Library at the University of Saskatchewan. Eventually, I found it.
Tuesday was important, and I stayed home for it... I waited for the lazy street sweepers to come by my house and sweep up the crap on the streets. And eventually, they did! To see photos, click here. Then, on Tuesday, I also did something I didn't want to do: pay my cell phone bill. Eventually, I started to study for my final exam on Wednesday, which was open book. Overnight, I slept around seven hours, which was decent, right?
Wednesday was an important day. I woke up, tired, despite sleeping a decent amount of hours. I eventually headed to school to write my last final exam (computer science), which was open book. However, the fact that it was open book made no difference, and I'm glad that I studied. But while waiting outside the education gym, an old lady shoved through the line then said "excuse me." Usually, when you shove through lines, you say that before you do so. She was a jerk, and the guy standing next to me agreed. By 10:40 am, I was free from school, and decided to head to the University of Saskatchewan Bookstore to sell my old textbook from my political studies. Since nobody wanted it, I decided to go there. Since the bookstore didn't want it, but the wholesaler did, I was paid a whole seven dollars. Man, I felt "rich." Although I felt great about the fact that school was over for the year, the weather didn't reflect that mood, and that's a damn shame. Eventually, I went to the second floor of the Arts Tower to use a computer. While waking by Arts 259, I saw an interesting sign, and went to Arts 277 instead. Eventually, I went to Greystone Heights School to visit my eighth grade teacher from W.P. Bate Community School (the original school that was torn down in 2006). After that, I went home, feeling incredibly tired. Then, after "relaxing," I went out to Saskatoon Christian School and paid a visit to another teacher, Mr. Baetz. After checking out my postal office box that day, I found that I had received a $10.00 cheque from Insightrix Research after redeeming points as part of my SaskWatch research panel participation. I encourage you to join. If you use this link, I get 30 points, or $3.00.
Yesterday, I was at home, and checking out my online banking accounts. While checking out my Visa account, I noticed that my available credit amount was all sixes. Should I have been worried? Obviously, a few people agreed. And yesterday, as the day progressed, I continued to plan my trip to Ottawa. After a little bit of time, I went to my cousin's house to bug Ky, Tho and Tony. After that, I went to check out the newly-renovated Walmart in Stonebridge, which recently became a Walmart Supercentre. It was... lame. Then, I went to the Real Canadian Superstore located at 2901 8th Street East and saw Andrew Pang there. You should check out some photos. Then, I went home, watched television and went to bed.
Today, I woke up and did some work... for only three-and-a-half hours. Then, I realized that today was Prime Minister Stephen Harper's 51st birthday, and I hope he had a good birthday. I then performed the check-in process for my car rental, as well as my flights. As I worked, I was disconnected from the Marriott network twice, which was great, for me. Then, I went downtown to do some banking at HSBC. I eventually went home, after checking my postal office box. Thankfully, there was no mail. And when I got home, I started packing for my trip, and am now finished. But while I was packing, I learned that the first phase of the HST (harmonized sales tax) will become effective in Ontario tomorrow, which may or may not include my restaurant meals. Hopefully, it won't. I also learned that Kevin Newman will be leaving Global TV, and will not be hosting Global National anymore, and that is not cool! But earlier in the day, I received a very cool offer that I know those who live in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Newfoundland will truly enjoy, even if they don't like the item being offered in the coupon. To see the coupon, click here.
Well, that's it for my boring life.
Before I conclude my update, there are two things I would like to discuss. First off, it's the federal deficit. Yes, we've been told that it was estimated to be as high as $54 billion. But, in an estimate done by TD Economics, the federal budget deficit may be $47 billion, instead of the $54 billion. Now that's great news! I wonder how Kevin Page feels.
Now, last, but not least, tomorrow is when I leave to Ottawa. And as I leave, it will be someone's birthday. If Jeff Meville were alive today, he would turn 22 tomorrow. And as I travel, I will be thinking about him, a lot. Again, I miss him, a lot!
Well, that's all for now. In about eight to nine hours, I will officially leave Saskatoon to Calgary to catch a flight to Ottawa from there, which of course, flies over the general direction of... Saskatoon. That's stupid, isn't it? Oh well. I'm not worried about that stupidity, as I am too excited about my trip. In less than 24 hours, I will be driving a newer car that doesn't belong to me, and sleeping in a very comfortable bed that I won't have to launder. And at some point within the next five days, I will be stepping into a building where historical decisions have been made that affects all Canadians: Parliament of Canada. If you would like to see my finalized schedule, click here. Note: I deleted the original file, so I scanned the printout.
Well, good night... and I'll be sure to post tons of photos on Flickr, as well as blog about my experiences when I return. Anyway, don't get ripped by the riptide!
